About Luciane Hawkins (Lu Hawkins)
I was born in Curitiba, Brazil, where I overcame absolute poverty and abuse. As I got older, I was gifted with a diverse, loving, and educated community who embraced and inspired me to see beyond my boundaries. I discovered myself to be more than what I had been raised to believe about my skills and identity. I was shown a window, through which another world was possible! Support, mentoring, and faith guided me into believing myself lovable, capable, creative, and a dreamer, whose future had no boundaries! I am an educator and storyteller by choice. My journey took a harrowing turn when I was confronted with cancer. The battle for my life was not just physical; it was a test of my spirit. During this challenging time, I relied on my faith and family.
It was, however, the death of my husband that almost robbed me from my own life. I experienced profound grief and for a while I had no joy, not even for a moment, of any day. I longed and prayed for death. My faith was my redemption and the only source of strength to face each morning. These experiences, though painful, taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and the importance of hope. Three years later, I am reconstructing my life, with a renewed thirst for life and all that it can offer.

The Storyteller of Hope Project: Ideas & Feedback
The purpose of The Storyteller of Hope Project is to foster empowering relationships of hope and joy among survivors of suffering! People at all stages of life and types of pain, trauma, or grief are welcome. We offer a platform where we can exchange inspiration, strategies, resources, and a place of belongingness to those who encountered suffering within their lives. Our community is NOT limited to those who lost a loved one. We adopt a broader and free of judgement concept of grief and suffering. We are a safe place to share our experiences, our feelings, our tears, and our laughs. We wish to provide a grounded community through which we support each other with what we need to rebuild our lives. We believe that pain is both individual and equally important within a community whose members' experiences are valuable and worth of equal validation. In other words, although diverse in population, all members' life experiences are equally important. It is part of our philosophy of life-suffering that each person experiences and communicates trauma differently. We also believe that comparison and competition, as to determine whose life is the worse than the rest, prevents the community from fully being a placement of safety, acceptance, unity and belongingness. We share our lives and exchange our stories to finding and providing inspiration for life, grief, purpose, and triumph!
We believe that human connection, through shared experience, is empowering and transformational. A community that is kind, driven, and courageous can change the world, one person and one story at a time! Your real-life story--the highs and the lows--the good and the bad--has the potential to bring healing to those who are suffering. In such community, our stories are the true witnessess of how love, faith, and the power of choosing to believe in a life beyond pain. We experienced the victory of life over the hold of death and grie. In our community, our pain becomes purpose! Our stories and shared experiences are empowering and meaningful content that inspire life and hope. Hope is a pricelles gift that can only be understood if it is no longer within our hearts. Without hope, it is impossible to find the will to live. The Storyteller of Hope Project understands the meaning of hope, and invites you to become a storyteller of hope yourself, here and in your home community.
